Most of my time I spend trying to create (or find) order, connection or purpose in my surroundings. It should be no surprise to me that in my paintings the same thing happens. For me, art is a visual expression of an emotional connection to something, whether it is a landscape, a single flower, or a thought. Every piece tells a story and it’s wonderful if my story touches the soul of the viewer too.

A Place to Ponder the Past and the Future

This view from the top of a cliff in Sister Bay, Wisconsin attracted me because of the gentle tide in the bay and the trees that seemed to be just barely hanging on.

This picture makes me want to sit down and watch the water and ponder ...

Were I called on to define very briefly the term art, I should call it "the reproduction of what the senses perceive in nature through the veil of the soul." Edgar Allen Poe
